I began fishing at the age of six – almost 40 years ago – on my Grandad’s canal boat near Liverpool. My YouTube channel (@canalcarper) was inspired by that very spot where my fishing journey first began. In 2018, after years of carp fishing club waters (St Helens AA / Lymm Anglers / PAAS) and major day-ticket waters, various syndicates and French venues I got a bit fed-up with all the travelling and the way in which the sport was evolving so I decided to focus on the (much quieter!) local Leeds-Liverpool Canal. I purchased a small fiberglass boat to explore the area and haven’t looked back since. In 2020, I was fortunate to upgrade to a narrowboat, and honestly, I’ve spent more nights on it than in my own home. I absolutely love the canal boat lifestyle – the freedom to fish whenever I want is incredible. Now, as my children grow and my work becomes more flexible, I’m planning to live on board full-time and explore the entire canal network across the country. My dream is to one day fish the canals of Europe. I hope you’ll join me on this exciting adventure.
