I began fishing at the age of six—almost 50 years ago—on my Grandad’s canal boat near Liverpool. My YouTube channel (@canalcarper) was inspired by that very spot where my fishing journey first began. In 2018, after years of carp fishing at major day-ticket waters, various syndicates, and French venues, I decided to focus on the local Leeds-Liverpool Canal. I purchased a small fiberglass boat to explore the area and haven’t looked back since. In 2020, I was fortunate to upgrade to a narrowboat, and honestly, I’ve spent more nights on it than in my own home. I absolutely love the canal boat lifestyle—the freedom to fish whenever I want is incredible. Now, as my children grow and my work becomes more flexible, I’m planning to live on board full-time and explore the entire canal network across the country. My dream is to one day fish the canals of Europe. I hope you’ll join me on this exciting adventure.
